About add line numbers

Add line numbers places a number before or after each line of plain text. Paste a code snippet, transcript, checklist or list of items and get numbered text immediately, without uploading it.

Choose decimal numbers, letters, Roman numerals, hexadecimal or binary labels. Set the starting value and increment, pad numbers for consistent IDs, or align the number column for easier reference. For example, starting at 10 with an increment of 10 produces 10, 20 and 30.

Advanced settings number only selected lines, use original source positions, filter with text or patterns, and restart or repeat sequences. Clean HTML, Unicode, email quotes and duplicate lists, customize label templates, and export plain text, CSV, TSV, JSON or a safely escaped HTML table. All processing happens in your browser.
