Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The segmentation model runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly. The only network request is a one-time download of the model files, which are then cached by your browser.

Why does the first run take longer?

The AI model (a few megabytes to tens of megabytes depending on quality) has to download once. Later images process much faster because the model is already cached.

What kind of photos work best?

Photos with one clear subject against a reasonably distinct background — people, animals, products — give the cleanest edges. Busy scenes with many overlapping objects are harder for any background remover.

Can I replace the background instead of making it transparent?

Yes. Choose a solid colour, a gradient, an uploaded image, or a blurred version of the original photo instead of transparency.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, though the model download and processing use more memory and battery than a simple filter, so larger photos may take a few seconds longer on mobile.
