What is the difference between markup and margin?

Markup is profit as a percentage of cost price; margin is profit as a percentage of selling price. A 50% markup is only a 33.3% margin — the tool shows both from either input.

How does reverse percentage work?

Given a final value and the percentage change already applied, reverse percentage solves for the original value, e.g. "a price is $120 after a 20% increase — what was it before?"

Is percentage change the same as percentage difference?

No. Percentage change measures the move from an original value to a new one (asymmetric); percentage difference compares two values symmetrically against their average. Both modes are included.

Can I add tax and then remove it and get the same number back?

Yes — "Add VAT/tax" and "Remove VAT/tax" are inverse operations, and the tool shows the net, tax and gross amounts for both directions.

Does the tip calculator split the bill between people?

Yes, enter the number of people and it divides the total including tip evenly, and also shows the per-person tip alone.
